Outdoor Burning

Daily Burn Regulations

For daily outdoor burning regulations, choose one of the following:

  • Missouri DNR Outdoor Burning Regulations
  • ACTIVE BURN BANS in Missouri

Requirements for Recreational Fire Pits:

  1. All burning shall be attended by a responsible resident of the property that is at least 18 years of age.
  2. The use of gasoline or other accelerants cannot be used to start the fire.
  3. All outdoor fireplaces should be kept a minimum of 15 feet from any combustible structures.
  4. Never burn when wind speed exceeds 15 mph or during a burn ban.

Requirements That Must Be Met To Conduct An Outside Burn

  1. Keep fire a minimum of 100 feet from all buildings
  2. All burning shall be attended by a responsible resident of the property that is at least 18 years of age.
  3. The use of gasoline or other accelerants cannot be used to start the fire.
  4. Have fire extinguishment materials on hand, including water supply, shovels, and rakes.
  5. You must call the permit issuer before and after your burn.

DISCLAIMER: THE PERMISSION TO BURN IN NO WAY RELIEVES THE PERMITTEE OF THEIR OBLIGATION TO COMPLY WITH ANY OTHER LOCAL, COUNTY, STATE, OR FEDERAL RULES OR REGULATIONS. ONCE YOUR PERMIT IS APPROVED IT MAY BE REVOKED AT ANY TIME.
