Central Platte Fire Department attended Platte City’s 13th Annual Cops and Kids event at Platte County Middle School this evening. It was a huge event, showcasing a KCPD helicopter, KCPD K-9 unit, Platte County Sheriff K-9 unit, Northland Regional Ambulance District and many others. Central Platte Fire demonstrated their skills in vehicle extrication and the K9 officers demonstrated the benefit of using trained dogs for searches of illegal weapons and drugs and the apprehension of criminals. Central Platte crews were out in force last night clearing downed trees from the roadways and responding to many downed line calls. No major damage has been reported as of this morning, but some were reported to be without power.
